find a leonberger

Before you search for a leonberger, is this breed right for you?

With their giant size and appearance, it’s easy to see why people assume this stunning breed is just like a big teddy bear, but owning and caring for one is no easy task. Most Leonbergers are wonderful, loving dogs, but due to their size and strength, they are not the dog for everyone. It’s important to do your research before you search for a Leonberger!

From food and veterinary expenses to their training, grooming and exercise needs, everything is proportional to their size – leonbergers are a lot of work! The Leonberger Club of America strongly recommends prospective puppy buyers to research carefully and reference our archive of articles before moving forward with a puppy purchase or rescue of an adult dog.

If you have already determined that this is absolutely the right breed, we welcome you to use our resources to help in your search for a Leonberger. We offer a national listing of member-breeders as well as updates on recent breedings and litters to help you find a breeder or puppy.
